Product Info
The north Norfolk Crab Boat sailing experience offers a hands-on introduction to traditional coastal sailing, using a lug-rigged working boat designed for both salt marsh creeks and open-sea coastal passages. Stable, shallow-drafted, and exceptionally safe, the crab boat is ideally suited for exploring tidal landscapes shaped by wind, weather, and the rhythms of the sea.
Led by experienced skippers, this Norfolk sailing experience is limited to a maximum of six people, allowing guests to take part in handling sails, navigating narrow channels, and reading coastal conditions. Each trip includes a stop for breakfast or lunch/supper, with hot tea or coffee, to pause in the marsh, forage and admire the abundant wildlife, with the option for wild swimming when conditions allow.
From quiet salt marsh waters to more exposed coastal stretches, the crab boat offers an authentic connection to working sail and traditional seamanship. Designed for small groups, the experience prioritises learning, observation, and immersion in the coastal environment, making it suitable for both newcomers and experienced sailors. Routes are dictated by wind and tide, shaped through discussion with guests, ensuring every sail is unique.
